Philadelphia born pianist and keyboard player AJ Cohen specializes in performing jazz (standards & contemporary), R&B, funk, and most other styles of music.

He attended the Combs College of Music and Philadelphia Musical Academy, and studied with Philadelphia’s premier jazz teachers. He was a founding member of Capitol Records recording artists band, Forest Green, with whom he recorded and toured for 7 years.  They shared the stage with Hall and Oates, Steve Miller, Dave Mason, Todd Rundgren, as well as many other great artists. After spending 17 years in Los Angeles, AJ moved to Bend Oregon.  The first 10 years performing and recording with The Jazz Guys, and the 2nd 10 years as a founding member of Jazz Fusion band Slick Side Down (CD – Eat at Joe’s on Apple Music and Spotify}

AJ has also been a Club Med Artist for over 20 years, performing throughout Mexico and the Caribbean.

Since moving to Sarasota in 2019, AJ has worked with many of the areas premier musicians. Currently AJ is performing regularly as a solo pianist at The Sunseeker Resort, The Sarasota Yacht Club, and Daruma Japanese restaurant. He has also performed for the holidays at The Ritz Carlton, The Longboat Key Club,, as well as many private events throughout the year. He performs regularly as a duo or band leader with former Motown Marvelette, Brenda Watty. Backing vocalists is one of his specialties, and he regularly backs local jazz vocalists like Kelly Broadway, Suzanne Lucas, and Melanie Massell. He also performs in the Deep Blue Band with Ramona Hermansa, whose specialty is classic rock, Pop, and country. With many new performing and recording projects on the horizon, this looks to be a very busy year for AJ
